Book 1 Project (IDDES)

Miss House of Hades??? Wish you could get a little more? Now you can with the new Illusional Doors of Death Elevator Set (IDDES)! With IDDES, you can now install your very own Doors of Death in your house, and along with the real-life elevator that really works, IDDES is camouflaged in paint, stickers, and crayons to make it look like it is just a pair of doors that has no elevator inside of them! This is the best of all of the House of Hades memorabilia!

IDDES ties into House of Hades because the Doors of Death were something that released all of the monsters that had died earlier in their existence faster than just waiting for them to rejuvenate their bodies and be able to fight again. The Doors of Death provided the villain, Gaea, an excellent advantage over source of troops and fighters for her side. These doors were almost impossible to close due to the requirement that they need to be closed on both sides with one being in Tartarus and the other in the House of Hades, and that they are guarded by a huge amount of monsters on both sides. This is shown because Bob, the former Titan Iapetus, has to push a button and defent the elevators until Percy and Annabeth get to the other side. He also had a skeleton-cat to help him, as shown when he said,"I also have a good cat".

Another catch to IDDES, like the actual Doors of Death in House of Hades, IDDES can only be operated by pressing the button that has the direction you wish to go on both sides of the elevator, the second one being which floor you wish to go. This, sadly, makes it impossible to travel IDDES without at least two other people (or one person on the other side and duct tape keeping the other button pressed down.) The importance of the Doors of Death in House of Hades was disproportionate, if they were not closed/released then all monsters killed would in a few days’ time, be able to come back and fight the exact same person or thing that was responsible for their short death. This would be big because everyone would die eventually, be it because they were killed by a monster or by some other means, they would die and the opposing troops to Gaea would eventually die out. Then Gaea would be able to do whatever she wished with the world.

If you ever have trouble installing IDDES, you can call our toll-free number for our advice on what you are having trouble with at 123-456-7890. If that doesn't help, then we will send you your very own GIANT. GIANT is a giant humanoid with scaly legs and a large smokescreen of black smoke that surrounds it that constantly snuffs out fire when it gets too close. GIANT has also been trained to assist you in the IDDES installation process. After that GIANT is also trained to push the button for you after magically teleporting to the location you wish to go. Also GIANT is trained to do a lot of other things for you like managing the elevator, guarding the elevator, yelling at people who come too close to the elevator, and finally, helping you out of the elevator
GIANT is relevant to House of Hades because he is one of the eleven giant-sons of Gaea that were made for the specific purpose of killing the god that the were made to be the exact opposite of (confusing right?). Basically, a giant would be the exact opposite of the god they were meant to kill. The giant for the war god would be peaceful, or the giant for the sky god would be ground-based. GIANT is based on the giant who was meant to oppose Hecate, the goddess of magic. That is why GIANT has a smokescreen around him, he is the antimagic.

  1. Interesting idea! I'm excited about owning my own GIANT. Good job of explaining the significance of the IDDES within the plot of House of Hades. Sounds like a fun book.

I see 1 quote from the book, did I miss the other 2?
